Jack's Bio
For almost 55 years Jack Tasoff has been photographing. He still owns his first camera, a Kodak Brownie box camera, 50th anniversary edition, that was
given free in 1918 to any child that turned twelve that year. He is not quite that old, but his equipment and technique have since matured.
For over 30 years Jack has specialized in underwater and wildlife photography, emphasizing mammals and endangered species. He has photographed underwater in his native
Southern California, the Sea of Cortez, the Philippines, Fiji, Belize, and Palau. His above water photography encompasses virtually all the Western United States and the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Magazine credits include photographs in National Wildlife, Outdoor California, and WildBird. Book credits include photographs in The Smithsonian Book of North American Mammals,
the Kaufman Series Mammals of North America, and the tabletop Wild Birds of California, in which he is described as one "of the state's best wildlife photographers." His work has been
exhibited at the California Exposition & State Fair and is on permanent display at the offices of the California Department of Fish and Game.
